Authors: Mercer Mayer and J. Dwyer
Average review score:

GEORGE and ALEX loved reading this book!
Our names are George and Alex. Our favorite lift-the-flap Little Critter book is WHERE'S MY SNEAKER? George liked the part when Little Critter looked in the trash can and had to stick his hands in the trash. Alex liked the part when Little Critter looked in the door and the dog said, "No!".

Little Critter, Astronaut (My Fun Shape Board Books)
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (01 November, 1996)

Average review score:

To the Moon, Little Critter
After the great success This is My Family had with my boys, we got this "fun-shape board book" about Little Critter playing "astronaut." The theme, amusing, colorful illustrations, and maximum three-lines of text on each page guarantees a preschooler`s attention. I used to have to read this two or three times at a sitting. Adults, too, will find humor in the discrepancy of Litte Critter`s narrative and the reality of his situation. I`m surprised the price has (...), but as the five-year-old still likes to look at this, we`re not ready to sell ours, yet.

Little Monster's Word Book
Published in Hardcover by Inchworm Pr (November, 1900)
Author: Mercer Mayer
Average review score:

A great book for pre-schoolers about things & feelings!
I used this book with my own grown children about 15 years ago and they still remember the goofy little monsters! They learned how to count, to identify many things from vehicles to animals to places and activities. It lends itself to a pre-schooler's short attention span because on any given page is something that is bound to catch their attention as well as yours. I'm sure you will love the book!

A great childrens book, a book they will remember for a lifetime. From smelling sweet grapes, to sour pickles! Your child will ask for this book again and again.

Mabel Mercer
Published in Paperback by Welcome Rain Publishers (February, 2000)
Author: James Haskins
Average review score:

Personally, I enjoyed This Book Immensely
Left to my own devices I would recommend this book and consider my knowledge of Mabel Mercer complete. However, I have a teacher who knew Ms. Mercer during her later years, and he strongly feels that this is a poor biography and that the newer biography "Midnight at Mabel's", by Margaret Cheney and Rex Reed is far superior. So, because my teacher is very respected, I am going to purchase "Midnight at Mabel's", read it, and compare the two biographies. Now, having said all this, I recommend that if you are going to read either biogrphy you should buy either of the two Mabel Mercer videos: Mabel Mercer - A Singer's Singer (1986) VHS and/or Cabaret Artist-Forever & Always VHS. I own both videos but have only had time to view the first I listed above. It was so good I watched it twice and hope to watch it several more times. One important point about Mabel Mercer is that she is much, much more effective if you *see* her perform than if you only *hear* her perform. (The "Marbel Mercer" biography by Haskins points this out several times). Regarding Ms. Mercer's CD's, my favorite is "Midnight At Mabel Mercer's/Once In A Blue Moon ". My least favorite if "Echoes of my Life". To conclude, it appears to me to be very important for a student of Caberet to study Mabel Mercer carefully. I enjoyed this biography and yet my respected teacher doesn't like this biography and highly recommends the newer biogrophy.

Marketing Strategy : The Challenge of the External Environment
Published in Hardcover by Sage Publications (June, 1998)
Author: David S Mercer
Average review score:

A book, one of very few, really about long-range strategy.
The title of this book is misleading, it was to be called Long-Range Marketing. In fact it is about the increasingly popular subject of long-range planning and strategy - albeit that it comes at this from the marketing perspective. It's importance is that - for the first time - it describes ways of incorporating the longer-term into the planning of most companies; where previously it has been the province of the larger ones (such as Shell, who worked with the author). The new approaches can provide reasonable input in less than a day. In this way it very effectively addresses the problem of short-termism which bedevils so many organisations.

Mercer Commentary on the Bible
Published in Hardcover by Mercer University Press (01 January, 1995)
Author: Richard F. Wilson
Average review score:

Excellent basic resource
The Mercer Commentary is an excellent resource for studying the Bible. Each book of the Bible is introduced by giving information about the author, date of the book, setting, and basic themes. The books are then broken down a few verses at a time to give more of an explanation. Obviously, no one book can give adequate detail to every passage in the Bible, so the Commentary tends to give approximately two small paragraphs per chapter of the Bible on average.

The contributors generally approach the expositions from a moderate viewpoint focus on scholarship more than tradition. For example, although Ecclesiastes has often been ascribed to Solomon, the Commentary gives reasons why it is likely someone else. However, in instances like these the contributors to a good job of giving both points of view and not forcing one idea on the readers. Thus, I have found it to be an excellent source when open-mindedness is desired.

Excellent resource
The Mercer Dictionary of the Bible is an excellent resource for in-depth Bible study. Like its companion Commentary, the Mercer Dictionary tends toward a moderate theology and focuses on scholarship. Entries can range from a sentence to several pages depending on the depth of the topic.

Mercer Mayer's Critters of the Night Old Howl Hall: Big Lift-And-Look Book: Over 50 Flaps! (Great Big Flap Books)
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Merchandising) (August, 1996)
Authors: Mercer Mayer and J. Dwyer
Average review score:

Old Howl Hall, Critters of the Night
I have been a volunteer in a reading program and have been reading to a second grader for the past year. We stumbled onto this book a month or so ago and it has become his favorite. We've read it dozens of times and he never seems to tire of it. It has wonderful colorful and entertaining lift tabs which reveal "scarey" creatures. It is also educational in that it teaches the alphabet, shapes and colors. Its hard cover with thick pages will last through many readings and lifting of tabs.

Mercer's Orthopaedic Surgery
Published in Hardcover by Univ Park Pr (February, 1983)
Author: Walter, Sir Mercer
Average review score:

a book every orthopedist must have for easy consultation
This book seems to be a classical book on british orthopaedics, and with it every surgeon may have all the basis at hand, the good old things and the new things. I recommended it to any student...even at the end of the way...a senior surgeon.
